I qualified as a doctor at the Royal Free Hospital Medical School in London in 1982. I worked in a variety of specialities gaining experience in Internal Medicine, Paediatrics (children), Oncology (cancer care), and General Practice. Currently I work in the NHS part time as Clinical Director of the Contraceptive and Sexual Health Service which includes specialist clinics for sexual problems and in private practice as a Holistic Medical Practitioner.

Holistic Medicine

I offer consultations using a holistic approach to provide individualised treatment.  Treatments may include Homeopathic Medicine, Western Medical Acupuncture, help with sexual problems, self help advice and one to one yoga sessions to include postures, breathing and relaxation as appropriate.

Homeopathic Medicine

I developed an interest in Homeopathic Medicine while working as a General Practitioner in Warwickshire. I found that some patients consulted about symptoms that could not be treated by orthodox medicine and I wanted to offer an alternative. So I undertook training at the Royal London and the Bristol Homeopathic Hospitals qualifying as a Member of the Faculty of Homeopathy (MFHom) in 2000. I began using homeopathic medicines alongside orthodox medicine in General Practice in 1992 and discovered the benefits of using the two therapeutic strategies. I worked at the Bristol Homeopathic Hospital for a year gaining experience of complex cases. I have treated patients in private practice for over 15 years.

Western Medical Acupuncture

Recently I have developed an interest in medical acupuncture. This arose as a result of seeing patients with chronic pain.

I completed the Foundation Course with the BMAS (British Medical Acupuncture Society) and attended the International Medical Acupuncture Congress of Barcelona in November 2011studying with Medical Acupuncturists from around the world. I offer acupuncture and electroacupuncture.

Psychosexual Medicine

My work in sexual health led me to undertake further training with the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine (IPM) as I became interested in offering help to patients who presented with sexual problems. The IPM trains doctors to treat sexual problems that are concerned with the emotions or psychological issues.  I passed the Membership examination in 2001.

I have practised yoga for many years and have experienced the benefits of a regular practice. I was encouraged by my yoga teacher to undertake training with the BWOY (British Wheel of Yoga) to become a yoga teacher. I have been teaching since 2007. My classes combine postures, breath work and relaxation.  All practices can be modified to accommodate medical conditions.

One to One Yoga

I offer one to one yoga sessions. People who prefer individual attention and have health concerns that require a modified yoga practice will find these sessions more suitable than a class setting. Sessions last for one hour. I offer suggestions for home practice between sessions.

Yoga Classes

I teach Yoga classes. Classes are mixed ability and suitable for beginners and intermediate levels. Classes are taught in a way that ensures everyone is exploring their own boundaries while remaining safe. The classes are small which ensures individual attention.
